Meet the Family Behind BoxDrop Worcester

Sean spent years in health and wellness, running personal training studios and health clubs. Lindsey is a CPA. Both worked long hours, and both wanted more control over their schedules and more time with their kids as they grew up. In June 2016, they opened a small, mattress-only shop in Boylston: 2,000 square feet, low overhead, no frills. In January 2018, they added furniture and moved into a larger showroom at 55 Millbrook Street in Worcester, where BoxDrop Central Mass still stands today. They set out to build something better for their own family and ended up building something better for Worcester County too.

Like most families, Sean and Lindsey knew furnishing a home is a major investment, and they didn’t believe it had to mean spending thousands at a big-box store. BoxDrop let them work directly with manufacturers and keep overhead low, so they can offer brand-name mattresses and furniture at up to 70% off traditional retail without giving up the personal service of a locally owned shop. That’s still the whole mission: helping Central Massachusetts families create a beautiful home for less.

When you walk in, you’ll be greeted by Sean, Lindsey, or someone on their small team, not a commissioned salesperson chasing a quota. We don’t believe in pushy tactics or manufactured urgency. We’ll listen to what you need, explain your options honestly, and help you find the right fit for your space and budget.

Much of what we carry is clearance and closeout inventory straight from manufacturers, so the showroom floor changes week to week, sometimes day to day. Regulars know to check in often. The sectional or mattress you’re eyeing today might be gone by your next visit, with something new in its place. That’s part of the fun of shopping in person: you never quite know what you’ll find.

Because that inventory is real and limited, items sell first-come, first-served. We’ll always tell you that straight. It’s an honest fact about how clearance works, never a pressure tactic.

Take your time. Lie down on a mattress in the position you actually sleep in, sink into a sectional, or test a recliner. Bring your room measurements and photos, especially if it’s going up a triple-decker stairwell, and we’ll help you figure out what fits through the door. Ask how a sofa is built, what’s inside a hybrid, or how a mattress compares to the one you saw online.

Everything on our floor is new and still in the plastic. We also stock non-standard mattress sizes that are hard to find elsewhere. Inventory turns over constantly as new mattresses and furniture arrive. If what you want isn’t here today, we’ll tell you, and let you know when something similar comes in.
